Booking & payments

Dates, totals, paperwork, and changes to your stay.

Can I book directly with Aric & Lauren?

Yes. Enter your dates and guest count on our website to see availability and the full stay total, then reserve your chosen rental. You’ll be booking with us, the owners. If you need help choosing, get in touch.

Check dates & prices →

Does the nightly price include all fees?

The “From” price is a starting nightly rate. Your dates, length of stay, and rental determine the actual price. Enter your dates to see the full quote, including the listed cleaning fee, taxes, and any other charges, before reserving. Review the security-deposit terms separately.

Why do I need a rental agreement after booking?

We require an electronically signed rental agreement and the security-deposit step described in your reservation. This also applies when you book through Airbnb or Vrbo. Look for our “Complete Your Reservation” email and finish the linked steps before arrival.

We use OwnerRez to manage our reservations. If you’re unsure whether a message or link is from us, contact us and we’ll help you confirm.

How does the security deposit work?

Our current standard security deposit is a $100 card hold, separate from your rental payment. It is normally placed two days before arrival and released within 14 days after departure, subject to any deductions under the rental agreement. A debit card can display a hold differently from a credit card, and your bank controls when released funds appear as available.

If you’re checking a deposit’s status, send us your unit, dates, and reservation number so we can check your booking.

What if I need to cancel or the weather changes?

Read the cancellation terms shown with your quote or booking before reserving; the terms for your reservation apply. If your plans change, contact us and use the cancellation process for the site where you booked. For a storm affecting your dates, check current local notices and contact us about your reservation.

If you choose travel insurance, review that policy’s covered reasons and deadlines before purchasing.

Can I stay for several weeks or a month?

We welcome extended-stay inquiries. Stays of 28 nights or more need owner review rather than instant booking. Send your dates, guest count, and preferred rental so we can discuss availability and the terms for your stay.

Ask about an extended stay →

Can I add another night or change my dates?

Contact us before making plans around extra nights. We’ll check availability and the updated price for your rental. An extension or date change is confirmed only once the reservation has been updated.

Arrival & departure

Check-in times, your welcome email, and a little extra time.

What time are check-in and checkout?

Standard check-in is 4 p.m. and checkout is 11 a.m., local time in Cedar Key. Please plan around those times unless we have confirmed a different arrangement for your stay.

Can I check in early or check out late?

Complimentary early check-in or late checkout is often possible, depending on same-day turnovers and our housekeeping schedule. Please ask us the day before your arrival or departure so we can confirm.

A guaranteed early check-in or late checkout may be available for an additional fee. Contact us to confirm availability and pricing →

How do I get my entry code and arrival instructions?

We use self check-in with a keypad or smart lock. Your welcome information is sent to the email address used for your reservation and includes directions, parking, entry details, and Wi-Fi information. Complete the rental agreement and security-deposit steps so your arrival information can be released.

I can’t find my welcome email. What should I do?

Search your inbox and spam or junk folders for “Vacation Nature Coast” and “welcome information.” Also check for a “Complete Your Reservation” email in case the rental agreement or deposit step is still outstanding.

If you still can’t find it, message us through your booking conversation or contact us with your unit and arrival date. We’ll help you get the right information.

Can I arrive late at night?

Self check-in lets you enter without meeting us for a key. Before traveling, complete your reservation requirements and make sure you have your entry instructions. If you are trying to book for the same night or need help with access, contact us before setting out.

What do I need to do before checkout?

Your checkout email contains the instructions for your stay. Please clean your used dishes, take out the trash as directed, leave bedding on the beds, sign out of your TV apps, and lock up. Starting a load of unstained white towels is optional and appreciated if you have time.

If you can’t find the email or something needs attention, let us know.

Our rentals & amenities

Choose your space and know what to pack.

Which rental is right for my group?

Pelican Point has a king bedroom, a twin-over-full bunk room, and two bathrooms; it sleeps up to five guests, with a maximum of four adults. White Heron Nest and Blue Heron Nest each have two queen bedrooms and sleep four.

Sandpiper Wing and Gull Wing each have one queen bedroom and sleep two. For a larger group, reserve more than one rental. Each unit is separately booked.

Which rentals have stairs?

Gull Wing has a stair-free entrance. Sandpiper Wing is on the first floor with four entrance steps, and Pelican Point is on the first floor with five. White Heron Nest and Blue Heron Nest are upstairs, reached by exterior stairs.

Stair-free entry does not describe every accessibility feature. If doorway width, bathroom access, or another detail matters for your stay, ask us before booking.

Are the rentals waterfront? Which have water views?

Our rentals are at 634 6th Street in downtown Cedar Key, about a ten-minute walk from Dock Street. White Heron Nest and Blue Heron Nest have views toward the water from the shared upstairs porch. View the photos for the specific unit you’re considering; a water view does not mean a private waterfront or dock.

Can I cook meals, and what kind of coffee maker is provided?

Every rental has a full kitchen with a refrigerator, stove and oven, microwave, cookware, and dishes. The coffee makers are regular drip coffee makers, rather than Keurig machines. Bring your preferred coffee and groceries; ask ahead if you need a particular kitchen item.

Are towels, linens, and laundry facilities provided?

Yes. Bed linens and bath towels are provided, and every rental has its own washer and dryer. Basic toiletries and paper supplies are listed among the amenities. Bring your personal essentials and any specialty products you prefer, and check with us about quantities for a longer stay.

Is there Wi-Fi? Can I work remotely?

Wi-Fi is included in every rental, with connection details in your welcome information. If your work depends on a specific speed, wired Ethernet connection, or uninterrupted service, contact us before booking to discuss your needs. We don’t promise a particular connection speed.

Can I bring a pet?

Our Cedar Key rentals do not allow pets. Service animal information.

Are children welcome, and is there a minimum booking age?

Children are welcome. The primary renter must be at least 21, and the total party must fit the selected rental’s occupancy limits. Include everyone in your reservation details. If you need a crib, baby equipment, or a particular sleeping arrangement, ask us before booking so we can confirm what is available.

Is smoking allowed?

Smoking is allowed outdoors only with owner notification. Keep doors and windows closed, use your own ashtray, and dispose of fully extinguished cigarette ends properly. Smoking is not allowed inside the rentals.

Who should I contact if something needs attention during my stay?

Use the contact details in your arrival email or your existing booking conversation. Tell us your unit and what is happening; a photo can help with a maintenance issue. Please let us know during your stay so we have a chance to help. For an emergency, call 911.

Service animal information

These rules apply to service animals during a short-term stay.

  • Access and charges. The no-pets policy does not apply to service animals. No additional animal fee or deposit applies. The usual charges for actual damage may still apply.
  • What qualifies. Under the ADA, a service dog is trained to perform work or tasks related to a person's disability. Comfort or companionship alone does not qualify. ADA definitions.
  • Permitted questions. If the animal's role is not apparent, we may ask whether it is needed because of a disability and which work or tasks it has been trained to perform. We cannot require certification, medical records, or a task demonstration. ADA guidance.
  • Care and control. The animal must be housebroken and under its handler's control. Use a leash or harness unless the disability or trained task prevents it; effective control is still required. The handler provides care and cleanup. Service animals cannot be left alone in the rental while the handler goes out. ADA hotel guidance.
  • Limited grounds for removal. An animal may be removed if it is not housebroken, remains uncontrolled despite the handler's opportunity to act, or poses a direct safety threat based on its behavior. Fear or allergies alone are not grounds for exclusion. The guest may continue the stay without the animal. Florida law.
  • Other protections. Trained miniature horses have separate reasonable-accommodation rules. Florida also protects trainers while training service animals. Emotional-support animals are not service animals under the ADA; housing stays can involve additional assistance-animal protections. Miniature-horse rules; Florida protections.

Parking & bringing a boat

Car parking, trailer space, and getting on the water.

Is car parking available, and is it free?

Yes, car parking is free. Your welcome email explains where to park for your rental and how to use our nearby overflow lot. Please follow those directions and keep access clear. If you are bringing multiple vehicles or an oversized vehicle, check with us before booking.

Can I park a boat trailer?

Boat-trailer parking is available by arrangement in our own lot on the same block, with one house between the lot and the rentals. There is space for up to two trailers at a time, shared across the property. This is parking on land, not a boat slip.

Send us your dates and boat/trailer length to confirm space before booking.

Does the trailer lot have water or electricity?

No. The trailer lot provides parking only, without water or electrical hookups. If you need to wash down a boat or charge equipment, arrange that separately. Please also check with us before planning to charge a rented golf cart at the property.

Where can I launch my boat?

The city boat ramp is about a three-minute drive from the property. Launch passes and any marina arrangements are separate from your stay. Check the city’s marina page for current fees, passes, and access information.

Exploring Cedar Key

Food, beaches, island outings, and everyday essentials.

Can I walk to town, or do I need a golf cart?

Dock Street restaurants and the fishing pier are about a ten-minute walk from our property. Many guests walk for downtown outings and use a car for places farther out. A golf cart is optional; local rentals are available. Contact the rental company for specific details.

Does Cedar Key have a beach?

Yes. There is a small public beach at City Park, beside Lil’ Shark Park at 192 2nd Street, with a playground, picnic areas, and restrooms. It’s a compact waterfront stop rather than a long stretch of resort beach. Check local conditions and posted notices before getting in the water.

City beach and park information →

Should I buy groceries before arriving?

For a full grocery shop, plan a mainland stop on your way in. The island’s former full-service market has closed. Local shops offer convenience staples, specialty foods, and seafood, but selection is more limited than at a supermarket.

See the local grocery guide for options. If you want delivery, check your exact address and available delivery times with the provider before relying on it.

Can I fish without bringing a boat?

Yes. The public fishing pier near Dock Street is an option, and local captains offer charters. Our fishing guide covers pier and shore locations, charters, and launch information. Follow posted access signs.

Before fishing, check FWC’s license requirements for your circumstances. If you book a charter, ask the captain what is included.

Can I kayak or take a boat tour to the nearby islands?

Yes. Local outfitters offer kayak rentals and boat trips. Atsena Otie is one of the islands visitors can explore, but access rules vary among the refuge islands. Check the wildlife refuge’s current access information and ask your outfitter which route suits the day’s wind, tides, and your experience.

Where can I watch the sunset nearby?

The small public waterfront parks off G Street at 6th and 7th Streets are nearby places to settle in for sunset. Use public access areas and respect neighboring homes and docks.

What can we do with kids or on a rainy day?

For time outside, try Lil’ Shark Park, a stroll to the fishing pier, or finding the downtown clam sculptures. For indoor time, look at the Historical Society Museum and local art galleries. Check opening days before heading out.

Where should we eat, and how do we find live music or events?

Our Cedar Key Guide has food and drink options near the rentals. Check the business’s own page or call for current hours, especially on holidays. For festivals and other dates, use the Chamber’s events calendar and the venue’s latest announcements.

Is Cedar Key open for visitors after the storms?

Yes, Cedar Key welcomes visitors. Some businesses and waterfront areas have changed since the storms, so check the places you especially want to visit before traveling. Our Cedar Key Guide provides a starting point, and the city’s latest notices are the place to check for public-access and storm updates.
